The San Joaquin Valley Public Health Consortium (SJVPHC) is a forum for public health leaders from eleven counties in California’s San Joaquin Valley region to work together toward a shared mission, vision, and purpose with a focus on addressing the social determinants of health and health disparities in the region and improving health.
Public Health Directors, Deputy and Assistant Directors, and Public Health Officers from Calaveras, Fresno, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, San Benito, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tulare, and Tuolumne counties collaborate closely to work toward health equity for all of the region’s residents through strategic planning, community education and outreach, public health staff training, policy development, cross-sector and cross-regional collaboration, and research activities.
SJVPHC was established in 1999 as a partnership between several local health jurisdictions and California State University, Fresno and has grown to include leaders from eleven counties, as well as several subcommittees and workgroups who support its strategic activities. CSUFresno continues to serve as the fiscal backbone for the Consortium and employs its staff.
